Am Freitag, 14 Oktober spielt um 20 Uhr das Erd Quintett mit der Sängerin Mara Minjoli im Kulturrat in Bochum Gerthe.< http://www.kulturrat-bochum.de/index.php?id=141>
Mit dabei sind Matthias Bergmann, Flügelhorn und Trompete, Michael Erdmenger, Tenorsaxophon, Martin Theurer, Klavier, Caspar van Meel, Kontrabass und Bernd Gremm am Schlagzeug.
Martin Theurer: Den Schwerpunkt bilden diesmal Kompositionen von Horace Silver, und wir freuen uns sehr, dass Mara dabei ist, und diese Stücke interpretiert.

Wir konnten das Programm schon beim Bochumer Kultursommer ausprobieren – es hat uns und dem Publikum schon da großen Spaß gemacht!

What A Waste Of Beauty
Liebe Freundinnen und Freunde des Jazz und der Improvisierten Musik,
kommenden Mittwoch Abend lädt boSKop und B!tte Jazz zur Jazzsession in das Kulturcafe der Ruhr Uni Bochum, und wieder mal ist eine der vielen Bands des Ausnahmesaxophonisten Florian Walter aus Essen zu Gast.
“What A Waste Of Beauty” deutet schon an, dass nichts ausgelassen wird – “Schönes” schon gar nicht( was immer das ist), und ich mute Euch einfach mal den Pressetext der Band auf Englisch zu:
“The Berlin-based avantgarde Quartet „What A Waste Of Beauty“ was formed in summer of 2010.
The idea was to use a rather unconventional group setting as a basis to combine several more or less
unrelated styles of contemporary music with each other. The band – consisting of four highly
creative, impulsive and visionary young musicians and composers – developed a very distinctive
and unique way of soundperformance. This depends on the autonomic, yet respectful understanding
of communication and the question what a idiomatic „Jazz“-Quartet could sound like right here and
now. With this background, they are standing right in the tradition of bands like „Human Feel“,
„John Zorn Painkiller“, „Led Zeppelin“, „Einstürzende Neubauten“, „AlasnoAxis“ or even Ornette
Coleman’s different concepts of improvisation.
In this context, „What A Waste Of Beauty“ had the possibility to perform its very own version of
Jazz-, Rock’n'Roll-, Noise-, Singer/Songwriter-, Punk-, Contemporary-, Pop- and improvised music
throughout Germany, and were invited to different festivals and clubs in germany and italy for
2011.
In der Band spielen: Julius Gabriel, Tenor/Sopransaxophon, Florian Walter, Klarinette, Bassklarinette, Marcel Martin, Gitarre, electronics, noise, und Fabian Jung, Schlagzeug, Percussion, Toys
Auch nach dieser Opener Band wird es um 21.30 Uhr die übliche Session geben. Die Band selbst startet um 20.30 Uhr.
Übrigens ist Florian Walter ist beim diesjährigen JAZZ|FEST|BOCHUM gleich zweimal vertreten: mit einer Musik/Tanz Performance am Freitag im Hauptprogramm und am Sonntag mit seinem Trio Lila als – wahrscheinlich ungewohnt dezente – Begleitung beim JazzBrunch im Hardys. <http://www.jazzfest-bochum.de/>
